Very often we are required to update our Graphics Drivers manually. While Windows Update will update your computer system including the Device Drivers automatically, or the software updaters of your graphics hardware will inform you when updates are available, there may be a time when you may have to, on your own, update your systems video and graphic drivers, if you are facing issues like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/laptop-screen-brightness-flickering\">Laptop screen brightness flickering<\/a> or if you wish to get better performance out of your Windows 11\/10\/8\/7 system.<\/p>\n<h2>How to update Graphics Drivers<\/h2>\n<p>While Windows Update delivers all driver updates too that are required by your system, you may want to chack the Optional Updates too to see if any specific display drivers are offered.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-296211\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Optional-updates-in-Windows-11.png\" alt=\"Optional updates in Windows 11\" width=\"700\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Optional-updates-in-Windows-11.png 700w, https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Optional-updates-in-Windows-11-500x241.png 500w, https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Optional-updates-in-Windows-11-300x145.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Windows 11<\/strong>, to update Graphics Drivers, do the following:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-298110\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/update-driver-windows-11.jpg\" alt=\"update driver windows 11\" width=\"700\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/update-driver-windows-11.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/update-driver-windows-11-500x303.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/update-driver-windows-11-300x182.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch Windows 11 Settings<\/li>\n<li>Select Windows Update from the left side<\/li>\n<li>Click on Advanced options on the right side<\/li>\n<li>Select Optional updates on the right side<\/li>\n<li>Expand Driver updates to see if any Graphics or other driver updates are available.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In <strong>Windows 10<\/strong>\u00a0too you can run <strong>Windows Updates<\/strong> and see if any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/how-to-install-driver-and-optional-updates-in-windows-10\">Driver updates are available under Optional Updates<\/a>. It&#8217;s a quicker and easier way:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-225114 size-full\" title=\"How to install Driver and Optional Updates in Windows 10\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Optional-Update-Windows-10.jpg\" alt=\"Optional Update Windows 10\" width=\"701\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Optional-Update-Windows-10.jpg 701w, https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Optional-Update-Windows-10-500x223.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Optional-Update-Windows-10-300x134.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 701px) 100vw, 701px\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Settings (Win + I)<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to Settings &gt; Update &amp; Security &gt; Windows Update<\/li>\n<li>Right under it, look for a clickable link View optional updates.<\/li>\n<li>Under Driver Updates, a list of updates will be available<\/li>\n<li>You can choose to install if you are facing an issue manually.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To use the <strong>Device Manager<\/strong> to update Drivers:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the Start button to open the WinX Menu<\/li>\n<li>Select Device Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Expand <strong>Display adapters<\/strong> to see your graphics card details.<\/li>\n<li>You can right-click on them and select <em>Update Driver Software<\/em> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/update-drivers-in-windows-10\">update the drivers<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In my case below, you will see an Intel as well as an NVIDIA GeForce entry. This means that my laptop switches between these two hardware depending on the need.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-127118\" HD Graphics<\/strong> family as well as NVIDIA GeForce card drivers.<\/p>\n<p>This post will show you in detail how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/uninstall-disable-roll-back-update-drivers-windows\">uninstall, disable, roll-back or update Device Drivers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u00a0select <em>Update be informed and ask to restart your PC.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-127205\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Type <em>GeForce<\/em> in Start search and select GeForce experience.<\/p>\n<p>After this <strong>NVIDIA GeForce experience<\/strong> app is launched<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can right-click on its system tray icon and select <strong>Check for updates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If updates are available, you will see a popup notification to this effect.<\/li>\n<li>Click on it, and NVIDIA GeForce experience UI will open.<\/li>\n<li>Clicking on the green <strong>Download driver<\/strong> button will commence its download and installation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-127112 size-full\" title=\"update Graphics Drivers\" experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In Windows 10, version 1909 and earlier, Windows installs the highest-ranking driver from Windows Update, regardless of whether it is classified as\u00a0Automatic\u00a0or\u00a0Manual.<\/li>\n<li>Starting in Windows 10 version 2004, and in Windows 11, Windows only searches the local computer. When it fails to find a driver, Device Manager shows a button labeled Search for updated drivers on Windows Update, which opens the Settings app to the Windows Update page. To find this button, right-click a device and select Properties.
