Some of the major reasons are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Debris or dirt at the bottom of the mouse or mousepad might be causing malfunction. Also, label stickers or tiny plastic covers at the bottom of a new mouse might be the cause.<\/li>\n<li>Sensitivity of the Touchpad and the dust on it.<\/li>\n<li>The mouse might be faulty or damaged or the port to connect the mouse.<\/li>\n<li>Mouse clicks automation software or a conflicting software that you might have recently installed.<\/li>\n<li>You might have enabled the ClickLock feature.<\/li>\n<li>Remote connections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see how we can fix the issue.<\/p>\n<h2>Mouse keeps clicking on its own in Windows 11\/10<\/h2>\n<p>When you find the mouse on your computer clicking on its own or the pointer moving automatically in Windows 11\/10, the following fixes can help you fix it.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Examine the mouse\/touchpad physically<\/li>\n<li>Check the port<\/li>\n<li>Adjust the settings of the mouse<\/li>\n<li>Disable the touchscreen<\/li>\n<li>Uninstall mouse automation software<\/li>\n<li>Disable the Touchpad<\/li>\n<li>Check remote connections<\/li>\n<li>Check Click Lock setting<\/li>\n<li>Reinstall Mouse driver<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Let&#8217;s get into the details of each method and fix the issue.<\/p>\n<h4>1] Examine the mouse\/touchpad physically<\/h4>\n<p>The first thing to do when the mouse is clicking on its own is to check the mouse physically for any debris or damage. Check if the sensor under the mouse has any debris if the labels are coming off or any plastic stickers under the mouse. If you find anything such as that, remove them. Check the mouse buttons to see if they are stuck. Also, clean the mousepad and put it on a flat surface. If you use only Touchpad, see if there is any dust on it and clean it.<\/p>\n<h4>2] Check the port<\/h4>\n<p>The USB port you have used to connect the external mouse might be faulty. Try using the mouse on another port and see if you experience the same issue. If the mouse is working fine and there are no clicks on its own, the port you used earlier is faulty. If the mouse behaves the same on both ports, try using the mouse on another computer to eliminate the possibility of mouse malfunction.<\/p>\n<h4>3] Adjust the settings of the mouse<\/h4>\n<p>Disabling the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/enhance-pointer-precision-windows\">Enhance pointer precision<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/how-to-disable-inactive-scrolling-in-windows-10\">Inactive scrolling<\/a> in the Settings app might fix the issue. The inactive scrolling feature in Windows allows you to scroll through a background window without bringing it to the front. The mouse acceleration feature changes the speed of your mouse cursor based on how fast you move your mouse. Click on the <strong>Pointer Options<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<li>Under the Motion section, uncheck the button beside\u00a0<strong>Enhance pointer precision<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on\u00a0<strong>Apply\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>OK\u00a0<\/strong>to save the changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See if the change made any difference in the mouse behavior and fixed the issue. This method is useful when the windows are scrolling automatically or something is happening on them that seems like the mouse clicking on its own. You can disable the touchscreen of the laptop in its Device Manager.<\/p>\n<p>To <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/disable-touch-screen-windows-10\">disable the touchscreen<\/a> in Device Manager:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the\u00a0<strong>Start<\/strong> button, search <strong>Device Manager,<\/strong> and open it from the results.<\/li>\n<li>Expand the\u00a0<strong>Human Interface Devices<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on the <strong>HID-compliant touchscreen device<\/strong> and select <strong>Disable device<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Yes\u00a0<\/strong>to confirm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See if it has fixed the issue.<\/p>\n<h4>5] Uninstall mouse automation software<\/h4>\n<p>You might have installed a mouse automation software and forgot about it. Check the list of programs installed on your PC and uninstall the mouse automation software. Also, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kaali02\/status\/1719235754810044425?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">uninstall the programs<\/a> you no longer use from the list of installed programs. It can fix the issue. To <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/disable-laptop-touchpad-windows-8-7\">disable the Touchpad<\/a> on Windows 11\/10,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the <strong>Settings<\/strong> app.<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Bluetooth &amp; devices.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Touchpad<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Toggle the button beside Touchpad to turn it off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>7] Check remote connections<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/enabel-remote-desktop-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If your PC is being accessed remotely with any remote connection, you see the mouse clicking on its own without your interference. Check if your PC has any remote connection programs running and being accessed remotely. Disable the remote connections by closing the programs that enable remote connections, and disable the Remote Desktop in the Settings app.<\/p>\n<p>To <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/remote-desktop-connection-windows\">disable Remote Desktop<\/a> on Windows 11:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the <strong>Setting<\/strong>s app<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>System<\/strong> and select the <strong>Remote Desktop<\/strong> option<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the <strong>Remote Desktop<\/strong> toggle switch<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Confirm<\/strong> button to save the changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>8] Check Click Lock setting<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/clicklock-click-lock.jpg\" alt=\"Turn on ClickLock in Windows\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/enable-clicklock-mouse-button-window\">Click Lock feature<\/a> will let you highlight, select and drag files, folders, and items, without pressing down the mouse button.
